The wedding is a special day in your life, during which rings are exchanged, pre-nuptial matchmaking occurs. From courting your love to getting hitched to selecting your wedding couture – the whole wedding is a ‘magical’ journey. Wedding eve is a happy eve and one among the many checklists is ‘how to embellish your wedding dress in the best possible way’.
From lace sequinned embellished bridal gowns (bride) for the wedding to ‘chic’ black tuxedos (groom) – selecting the best wedding fabric is the ‘crux’ of all.
Mostly choosing a fabric for wedding mainly depends on the ‘eve’ of your wedding, either morning or evening or night or early morning. The reason is different times of the day sets different moods on the onlooker and wedding photographer, for there are variations in accents and hues. For which, your wedding couture must be selected depending on the same else you might look charred or marred on your photos. There are few other things to keep in mind while selecting a fabric for bridal attire:
- Bridal dress should complement and contrast a grooms wedding dress. Eg, If a lady is wearing a golden dress, then man can pull off the golden trend in a lighter accent like rose gold sherwani with nature prints with a mix of oriental prints!
- Accents and hues during the day must be much lighter than any time of the day, due to prominence of natural light eg, Organza, Net, Chiffon, Georgette, pastel designs, florals, velvet, satin would work well.
- Highly embellished gowns or fabric suitings for groom would look dapper during night time as you would be the ‘spotlight’. Hence darker embellished colours are chosen. Eg, silk, metallic suit, brocade would work well.
Finishing touches or detailing in the fabric is referred to as ‘embellishments’. Here we’re going to tell you the importance of embellishments, from the application of laces to crystal beading on bridal fabric designs. There are laces, beads, sequins, border trims, pearls, fringes and ribbon.
- Laces Appliqués
These are the most common embellishment chosen in any fabric for a wedding. Lace appliqués are attached on to a wedding dress thereby adding dimension to your open back or plunging neckline or flouncy skirt without making it look gaudy or vulgar. Lace appliqués in these strategic locations of your wedding dress adds sophistication thereby accentuating your curves and cuts. These are sewn in different shapes like flower or swirls on sheer or nude coloured pieces of your gown or skirt.
- Beading
Crystal or glass beads lift up the glam quotient of your overall look, as these ornate and subtly detail in localized areas of the bodice. You can either go for these beaded embellishments on localized areas or opt for a fully-beaded-gown to make heads turn.
- Sequins
The right amount of sequins and shimmer is needed on the dress at the right areas, else it might look disastrous. There’s no reason to be scared about and just go heads on with this embellishment as you move about the party. Glimmer glamorously!
- Ribbons
Satin and Velvets with the net are sometimes considered as the best wedding day fabric and feminine wedding material. Waist clinchers being in fashion ‘ribbon’ as an embellishment is sure to add ‘wow’ to your dress in lieu of a belt.
- Fringes
Fringes as an embellishment are patterned on your wedding dress by cutting countless tiny threads. If you’re someone who is fascinated by bohemian aesthetic, add fringes to your sleeves or train.
