Ae halo re halo garbe ghumva jaye,
Navratri is here and for Gujaratis it is the most important festival, you can even consider it as a desi version of Tomorrowland music festival, the people celebrate Navratri with so much energy and enthusiasm in Gujarat, everywhere at night all you can see is people dressed up in colourful attire and dancing to the beats throughout the whole night, the best part is the celebration is not only limited to the club, farm but you can see people celebrating in every little street/housing society.
It is one of the Indian festivals which you shouldn’t miss and should definitely feel at least once in your lifetime even if you aren’t living in Gujarat. ‘Navratri’ means nine nights; nav=nine ratri=night, so it is a festival which is celebrated for nine nights, arti takes place first followed by the traditional dance form garba, then late-night people eat snacks and at last play dandiya, people dress up traditionally for the Garba in chaniya choli and kediyu.
In today’s post I will be telling you about styling for Navratri, obviously you want to look the best and amidst people you need to style something differently in order to stand out from the crowd, each and every people have different personal style so, they opt for different traditional, indo-western, fusion, modern types of chaniya cholis. I have styled five different looks for Navratri, you must have already seen it if you are following me on my social media channels,
Look – 1 – Midnight Monochrome
I like to keep it simple and classy, my love for black is never ending and so, this attire with the zig zag print chaniya and plain black blouse is perfect for me the dupatta is again plain black with some monochrome pattern triangular cuts attached to it, as the attire is quite plain I have tried to balance it by wearing accessories like handcuff, heavy jhumkhas and coin choker necklace, Making it look perfectly paired. The good thing about this look is it can not only be worn in Navratri but can also be worn as separate pieces like skirt and crop top at any other occasion.
Look – 2 Kala Chasma Swag
This look is for those who like a pop of colour in the outfit and it is again elegant and simple attire with plain pink blouse which has a circular backless pattern, zigzag print chaniya and the dupatta is pink shaded with golden print and black triangles attached on the border. Here the dupatta is catchy and so it can be draped in various ways for a more stylish look, the attire has fun vibes to it and also, I have kept accessories minimal and only went for long dainty earrings and a spikey choker which makes the entire look complete.
Look – 3 Experimental Orange-Purple Riot
The colour combination looks vibrant and this fusion outfit is very jazzy and perfect for garba night, purple colour plain lined blouse with box pleated orange chaniya and oh the beautiful white dupatta with orange boxes steals the attention, I also wanted to go extra with this outfit and so for the accessory I chose to wear a tribal head long neckpiece, dainty jhumkhas and tribal nosepin, I tried to experiment with this attire and I love the final look.
Look – 4 Flowy Kalamkari
This attire is for girls who like traditional attire without the extra bling, it is a beautiful red kalamkari flowy chaniya with blue backless blouse paired with white dupatta having red triangles attached to the border, the chaniya has a beautiful flare and as I wanted the look to be traditional I have kept the accessory blingy for the night with tikka, mirror earrings and a statement neckpiece to complete the look.
Look – 5 Modern Twist
This outfit is for the girls who want to be the star of the night and love to experiment with fashion, this attire definitely brings a modern twist to the traditional outfit, I love how the outfit makes a combination of comfort, sexy and elegant. The colours and detailing of the attire is very natural and perfect for a fun garba night with friends, strappy blue blouse which can also be worn as a crop top, red printed chaniya which doesn’t have full flare but makes a cylindrical flare and mustard yellow dupatta with blue and red mix triangles attached to the border. I wanted to keep the outfit modern and trendy and so I have played with the accessories and I opted for long colourful tassel earrings and coin choker neckpiece which compliments the outfit perfectly and with that, I am ready to rock the festival!
I have kept the makeup subtle, just opted for shimmery copper eye look and bold lip which would suit all the looks.
